FOX hasn’t officially confirmed The Resident Season 5, but we’re expecting a renewal. If it happens, Morris Chestnut is dropping to a recurring guest star.
By the time you read this, we’ll have probably already found out that The Resident Season 5 is going to happen. One of the big questions for many is whether everyone from Season 4 will remain with the show.
We know Shaunette Renée Wilson isn’t returning as Mina, but what about Morris Chestnut as Cain? Will we say goodbye to this troublesome, money-hungry doctor?
It doesn’t sound like that’s the case, but we will see a little less of him. Chestnut is going to drop from series regular to recurring guest star, and part of that is in the name of a new show on FOX he’s going to be a part of.
Why is Morris Chestnut dropping to recurring guest star on The Resident Season 5?
According to Deadline, Chestnut is going to star in Our Kind of People with Chicago Med‘s Yaya DaCosta. The series landed a straight-to-series order from FOX and is based on Our Kind of People: Inside America’s Black Upper Class by Lawrence Otis Graham.
Chestnut will play Raymond Dupont, a powerful man raised in wealth. He has a soft place in his heart for his daughter but ignores his son, who dreams of becoming a basketball player. He is also struggling to revive his company after his white business partner almost tanked it through mismanagement.
He’ll be a series regular on the show, limiting his time for The Resident Season 5. And that’s not all. He’s also in The Best Man: The Final Chapters on Peacock during the 2021–2022 season. Chestnut is one busy man!
