It’s official: American Horror Stories, the first official American Horror Story spin-off series, will premiere on the FX on Hulu platform in July.

John Landgraf, the longtime chairman of FX Networks, confirmed the news prior to the Disney upfront presentation today, Deadline reports.

The episodic anthology series from Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk will be eight episodes long. Murphy confirmed that each episode will delve into different ‘horror myths, legends and lore’.

A second season consisting of a further eight episodes is expected to air next year.

American Horror Stories cast, plot details & more

Will it connect to seasons of the main show?

Yes, American Horror Stories is set within the same universe as American Horror Story, so fans can expect some pretty major connections. The opening Halloween-themed two-parter, for instance, takes place at the infamous Murder House, known in real life as the Rosenheim Mansion.

Who’s in the cast?

Based on filming reports, AHS alums Evan Peters and Taissa Farmiga are reprising their roles as Tate Langdon and Violet Harmon for the premiere episodes, although they won’t be the focus.  Rather, the spotlight for the first two episodes is set on franchise newcomers Kaia Gerber (the daughter of model Cindy Crawford), Paris Jackson (the daughter of Michael Jackson), and Sierra McCormick. Joining them is American Horror Story: Freak Show and Hotel star Matt Bomer, also in a completely original role.

Who’s directing?

Loni Peristere, the director of several iconic American Horror Story episodes (including Devil’s Night from season five), is helming the first two episodes of the spin-off. Sarah Paulson also confirmed that she would be directing an episode, although it’s unknown whether this still stands, given how hectic her work schedule currently is already.

Can I watch it internationally?

American Horror Stories will stream internationally on the Disney+ Star platform.
