Friends fans concerned for Matthew Perry after seeing new reunion video

The Friends reunion special is headed our way in a week’s time, and fans of the long-running comedy series cannot wait to see how it all plays out. While some have been disappointed upon hearing this will be a completely unscripted show and not an additional episode, we can’t help but count down the days until we get to see the six main actors back together again.

Apart from the six stars, which includes Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, and Matthew Perry, other Friends alums such as Tom Selleck, Reese Witherspoon, Elliott Gould, Larry Hankin, Thomas Lennon, Christina Pickles, James Michael Tyler, and Maggie Wheeler will all be in attendance. Other celebs to show up are Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, BTS, and more.

Leading up to the highly-anticipated Friends reunion, the main actors have been doing press to promote the show. One of these big interviews comes from People Magazine, who did an exclusive in which the cast looked back at some of their favorite memories. While fans have been extremely excited to check the video out, it’s also caused some concern. Namely, people are worried about Matthew Perry’s state of wellbeing.

As Friends fans likely know, the actor who played Chandler Bing struggled with addiction for years before getting sober in 2001. In the years since, he’s checked himself into rehab to keep himself on track and has continued working on his recovery. With this past, unfortunately, the public seems to jump to conclusions from time to time whenever Perry is seen looking out of sorts. This is now the case with the new People Magazine video, where the actor doesn’t look all the way there.

Perry certainly looks a bit bored and even out of it in the video, but we’re not sure that calls for all the chatter surrounding his health right now. A Page Six article claims that he’s “slurring” his words in the video, and has provided tweets from worried fans. Noting that Perry looks the oldest compared to his Friends cast members, many people took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the new interview.

On the other hand, people are now sticking up for Perry as well, explaining that he’s been through a lot over the years and we shouldn’t make quick assumptions about his wellbeing.

There’s no doubt about the fact that Matthew Perry has aged since Friends was on air, as have the rest of his former co-stars. Whether or not we should actually be concerned about his health or sobriety is another story. It’s easy to judge when we don’t know what’s actually going on in his private life.
