Friends fans continue to bash James Corden as host of the reunion special
Fans of the long-running NBC series Friends have been waiting for the reunion special to hit HBO Max for almost two years, and it appears now that it’s just days away, people are as disappointed as ever with some of the decisions made. The reunion was originally announced back in November 2019, though COVID-19-related delays kept it from being filmed until this year. And since the lineup of special guests and the host has been announced, complaints have been flying left and right.
While fans are obviously very excited to see the six main actors back together again, which includes Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, and Matthew Perry, people are also upset by the newcomers to be involved. Popular celebs such as Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, and the K-pop group BTS will be in attendance at the Friends reunion, which has left fans scratching their heads.
And another thing many people are angry about is the fact that James Corden will be serving as the host. Though Corden was very well-liked for some time, it seems the general public has turned on him in recent years. LadBible even wrote a piece about the comedian’s decrease in popularity, nothing that some find him annoying, not funny, and that he has even been linked to some controversies.
Like it or not, though, James Corden will have a big role in the Friends reunion which is debuting next Thursday, May 27. And fans of the series have not held back in their bashing of the Carpool Karaoke host. Redditors have shared memes about their distaste for Corden in the Friends subreddit, while others have taken to Twitter to share their opinion on the star. James Corden has yet to respond to all of the backlash, and neither have any of the Friends stars. If the intense criticism continues, however, we’ll be curious to see if anyone involved in the reunion weighs in.
Catch the highly-anticipated Friends reunion special Thursday, May 27 on HBO Max.
