Fans outside of the United States can watch the Friends reunion special, and here’s how
It’s officially the week of the Friends reunion special, and fans of the classic sitcom are now planning their watch parties and counting down the days until Thursday, May 27. This show has been in the works for a while now after being announced in 2019, and fortunately after COVID-19-related delays, they were finally able to film earlier this year.
The reunion will see the six main Friends cast members–Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, and Matthew Perry–all back together again.
And on top of the show’s iconic stars, the Friends reunion will include some unexpected special guests, such as Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, BTS, and other big-name celebrities. Friends fans will be happy to know that other actors from the NBC series will be in attendance as well, including James Michael Tyler, Elliott Gould, Larry Hankin, Reese Witherspoon, Thomas Lennon, Christina Pickles, and Maggie Wheeler.
People have been annoyed at the list of special guests for the reunion, as many of the celebrities have nothing to do with the show. Another issue people have is that HBO Max, which will host the show, is only available in the United States currently. As we previously reported, it seemed as though only viewers in the U.S. could tune in for the special this Thursday, but as it turns out, international fans will have the chance to watch as well. Phew!
How to watch the Friends reunion outside the United States
Variety recently came out with a report which explains that fans outside of the United States can still watch the Friends reunion on different platforms. According to the publication, here are the streaming services where international viewers can find the special:
- Canada: Crave
- UK and Ireland: Sky and NOW
- Sweden, Denmark, and Finland: HBO Nordic
- Spain: HBO España
- Central Europe: HBO Portugal and HBO Go
- Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong: HBO Go
- Australia: Binge
The Indian Express also reports that fans in India will be able to watch the Friends reunion via the streaming service ZEE5.
Shout out to Variety for coming up with such a cohesive list, as many of us were admittedly confused on how people could watch the Friends reunion without HBO Max. And as we’ve previously shared, fans in Latin America and the Caribbean will have to wait until June to access the streaming platform when it debuts later next month.
For those able to check out the reunion special when it releases this Thursday, May 27, enjoy! Otherwise, I’m sure you’ll see tons of clips online.
