The highly anticipated sequel from John Krasinski, A Quiet Place Part 2is in theaters on May 28, 2021. Hidden Remote caught an advanced screener of the horror thriller to share our thoughts — Does the movie live up to the hype?

A Quiet Place Part 2 was originally set to premiere in early 2020, but due to the pandemic, plans changed. At that time, studios weren’t sure what to do with ready-for-release films. Later on, as movies went straight to streaming services and VOD, Krasinski and production insisted that this sequel was made exclusively for the big screen.

Over a year later, fans are finally going to be able to watch the movie and couldn’t be more excited to do so in theaters. I must say, a big-screen experience is what this movie was made for.

A Quiet Place Part 2 is worth the big-screen experience

Not only is the long-awaited sequel made for the big screen, but the wait for it was worth it! John Krasinski proves he is a master storyteller.

The first part of the movie serves as a “mini-prequel,” and I honestly could watch a feature-length film of Lee and Evelyn Abbott’s (Krasinski and Emily Blunt, respectively) first days dealing with the arrival of these monsters. It’s that exciting to watch.

A Quiet Place Part 2 then takes us back to present time, only moments from where the first movie left us.

The grieving family has little to no time to mourn, as they must move on to another location. The journey there is gruesome, Krasinski wastes no time in stressing out audiences. The thrills and surprises don’t stop, and it’s an even more emotional and heart-wrenching ride than the first!

We meet Emmett, the Abbott’s former neighbor, portrayed by Cillian Murphy. Initially, we’re not what to think of him, it’s difficult to trust anyone or care for any new characters in these types of films. Is it just me or are any other movie fans always at the ready for betrayal? Still, this movie finds a way to sneak up on you.

A Quiet Place Part 2 also introduces a new threat, other survivors. This isn’t explored as much as I would have liked, but it may be brought back in a third movie.

The performances are as sharp and brilliant as the first installment, Millicent Simmonds truly shines here. And Blunt delivers once again an emotional gut-punch act. I’d also like to praise Noah Jupe’s (who portrays Marcus) touching and fierce final scene in the movie.

A Quiet Place Part 2 is worth watching on the big screen and the perfect movie to welcome audiences back to theaters.
