All Disney movies are suitable for all ages, right? That’s changed slightly with the latest release. What is the Cruella age rating?

Disney movies tend to be rated with a G rating. The idea is to make it for everyone in the family. We just have to look at 101 Dalmations to see how a movie with an evil character and some scary moments could still be suitable for all children.

What about the latest addition? Cruella is now available to watch on Disney Plus with Premier Access. Yes, this means you’re paying extra to get the immediate access, but within a few months, it will be on Disney Plus free for all subscribers.

It’s the origin story of Cruella, how she became the fierce and scary woman she ended up being in 101 Dalmations.

If you’re planning on watching it with the family, you’ll want to make sure it’s suitable. That means looking at the Cruella age rating to see what Disney suggests.

What is the Cruella age rating?

While most Disney movies do get a G rating, that’s not the case for Cruella. The official Cruella age rating is PG-13.

This still means that it can be suitable for the whole family. It’s suitable for 13+ without concern, and it’s suitable for younger children with parental guidance. In the end, it’s going to be up to you as a parent to determine if it’s a movie your children can watch.

According to The Wall Street Journal, this is the first time in Disney’s 60-year history that a movie is not a G rated. This isn’t quite the case. Mulan was also PG-13.

The decision to make the movie PG-13 is due to the violence and thematic elements. This was the case for Mulan too. The PG-13 rating allows studios to remain loyal to life in some aspects but keeps the movie family-friendly.

So, yes, while the Cruella age rating is PG-13, it is still suitable for children. At least, for most of them.
