If we had to pick, Matt LeBlanc’s Joey Tribbiani would have to be the funniest Friends character, hands down. The popular ladies man who loves pizza and the New York Knicks is often a punchline in the long-running show, and even got his own spin-off after Friends, simply titled Joey, which lasted for two fun seasons. But while LeBlanc’s character is certainly hilarious, the latest joke surrounding the actor was actually unintentional.

Twitter users might already know where this is going, as after Friends: The Reunion debuted on HBO Max last week, it didn’t take long for Matt LeBlanc to become a meme! USA Today has rounded up some of the best tweets, as well as explaining how the joke got started to begin with.

Apparently, in one scene from the reunion special, LeBlanc was caught smirking and crossing his arms across his chest, which many people over on Irish Twitter believed looked like a typical uncle pose. The trend quickly began, and one person explained the meme perfectly when writing:

"“Every Irish family has at least one of those uncles or great uncles -extreme salt of the Earth characters, full of dry wit and just a drop of cynicism. Matt looks like a typical Irish uncle in the photos from the reunion from [his arms folded], to his facial expressions.”"

Matt LeBlanc has yet to respond to the fact that he’s become a meme, but we’re sure he would think it’s all in good fun if he saw. Though the Friends reunion special wasn’t the new episode many fans wanted, the unscripted show did give us some awesome new content, including a trivia game, bloopers, and wild reveals. We loved seeing the six main cast members together again.
