All eyes are on the cast of Friends about a week coming off the highly-anticipated reunion special, and while many people have been concerned over star Matthew Perry’s health and wellbeing, he’s just made an announcement we weren’t fully anticipating.

All six stars of the long-running NBC show returned for the reunion on HBO Max including Matthew Perry, Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, and Lisa Kudrow. While fans were hoping the show would be another episode instead of the unscripted reunion we got, the special proved to be worth watching anyway just to see the actors back together again.

We got to see the cast play a fun trivia game and received a bombshell from Aniston and Schwimmer, who revealed they had real-life feelings for one another while playing the famous Ross and Rachel.

Matthew Perry ends engagement to Molly Hurwitz

Now that Friends: The Reunion has come and gone, Perry is here with some news. As reported by People, the 51-year-old actor has shared in a statement that he and his fiancé, 29-year-old Molly Hurwitz, have split. The two began dating in 2018 and took the next big step for engagement in 2020.

In his statement about the split, Perry said: “Sometimes things just don’t work out and this is one of them. I wish Molly the best.”

As of right now, we don’t have any insight into why Perry and Hurwitz broke up, but we do wish both of them the best moving forward. Hopefully, the Friends alum has all the support he needs in his former co-stars, as well as family and friends.

Last week, the Friends: The Reunion director came to Matthew Perry’s defense when the subject of his health came up. In case you missed it, many people expressed worry for the actor after he looked a bit spaced out during promos for the reunion special. Some people even claimed he was slurring his words.

While making an appearance on The Hollywood Reporter’s podcast TV’s Top Five, Ben Winston said of Perry:

"“He was great. People can sometimes just be unkind. I wish they weren’t. I loved working with him. He’s a brilliantly funny man and I thought he had some great one-liners in the show. I felt just happy and lucky to be in his presence and directing him on something like this.”"

It’s good to hear that despite what many might think, Matthew Perry is in fact doing well. Hopefully this breakup is what’s best for him, and for Molly Hurwitz, in the long run.
