It was just announced this week that Counting On was canceled by TLC because of Josh Duggar’s child pornography scandal. While some are disappointed by the news, it may be somewhat of a relief to Jinger Duggar.

People dished some details of a recent interview that she did for the podcast called Dinner Party with Jeremy Fall.

Jinger reflected on being in the public eye since she was 10 years old. For most of her life, she had the TLC film crew milling around her family as they went about their daily lives in southwest Arkansas. Even after she married Jeremy Vuolo in 2016, TLC was still a big part of their lives. However, things are now changing.

In the podcast, Jinger Duggar talked about how she has been affected by her life being scrutinized so much. There are always headlines in the media concerning the Duggar family, especially since news of Josh’s molestation scandal first broke in 2015. The TLC star mentioned how “painful” it was to see the things being said about her family.

“That’s painful to hear and so in those times I just have to go back to, ‘Okay, wait I’m not defined by what everyone’s saying today, I’m not defined by these things, my identity is only found in Jesus Christ and because of who I am in Christ now, it doesn’t matter,'” she said. “I don’t have to worry about other people’s opinions of me and I think that’s something that I wrestle with and I think my family wrestles with.”

Jinger Duggar worries about her kids being in the public eye

As soon as their second daughter Evangeline, was born last year, Jinger and Jeremy decided not to post any photos of her or her older sister Felicity. Duggar fans missed seeing the kids, especially since they previously posted many sweet pics of Felicity on Instagram. That all stopped after Evangeline was born. They both said that they were shying away from having their kids on social media.

Jinger revealed on the podcast exactly how stressful it has been to have paparazzi trying to snap photos of the girls and to have mean things being said about them on Instagram. That has led her to want to step back from being a reality star. “I’ve told Jer a couple times, ‘I just don’t want to be in the public eye! I just don’t want to be there, I just don’t want to be here, I don’t want my kids to have people looking in on their lives and picking it apart,'” she said.

It sounds like she may be a bit relieved that Counting On pulled the plug on the show. She and Jeremy have already authored a book called The Hope We Hold and started their own unique podcast on the same topic. Jeremy is also currently attending seminary school in L.A.
