Welcome to the weekend! Do you know which movies you’ll be watching (or streaming) this weekend? Below, we share the best movies in theaters and films available on steaming services not to miss.

Between movies in theaters and streaming services, consider your entertainment needs met as you’ve got plenty of choices! No need to feel overwhelmed, though, we’re here to highlight the best releases of the weekend.

With the wealth of streaming apps available and theaters beginning to open up more and more, there are so many new movies released weekly. I wanted to sort through them all and find some of the best options for you to watch.

With plenty of holdovers from last week and the addition of a twisted horror movie and a new take on an old franchise, let’s dive in.

Check out the movies available this weekend, beginning July 23, 2021.

New movies in theaters

  • Old
  • Snake Eyes
  • Joe Bell
  • Midnight in the Switchgrass

The return of M. Night Shyamalan has arrived, and by watching the trailer, this one looks as CREEPY as ever. For those of you who have seen the trailer, when that kid is in the water, and that body part floats upon him, I would never step foot in the water ever again! I am excited to see what the horror genius has in store for us.

One of my favorite G.I. Joe characters growing up was Snake Eyes, and when I found out that Henry Goulding was playing him, I was beyond excited to see this film. The movie was initially scheduled to come out in March of last year and again pushed from October to this weekend. So the wait has finally ended. Are you looking forward to this movie as much as I am?

Can I be honest with you guys right? I am a sucker for a good romance/drama. I was a bit skeptical upon watching the trailer for this but CAN confirm that this movie is an absolute delight. We have two leading ladies in Shailene Woodley and Felicity Jones that are knockouts in their roles. However, I will also warn you to have the tissues ready for this one.

New movies to stream from home

  • The Last Letter From Your Lover (Netflix)
  • Troll Hunters: Rise of the Titans (Netflix)
  • Freaky (HBO Max)

Freaky was one of the biggest surprises of 2020. When I watched the trailer, I thought it was just another body swap movie that added some horror elements, and boy was I wrong. Vince Vaughn and Kathyrn Newton are great together and Michael Kennedy’s writing is profound within the story. Highly recommend checking this one out.
