Ranking the characters on The White Lotus by how terrible they are

Now that The White Lotus season 1 has concluded on HBO, let’s rank the main characters by how terrible they are.

Spoiler alert! Please note there are spoilers ahead if you haven’t watched all the episodes of The White Lotus, you can stream the first season on the HBO app or HBO Max.

From the beginning, the biggest mystery on The White Lotus was, who dies in the end? All we knew, was that it wasn’t Shane (regrettably), but it was Shane who killed this character.

In The White Lotus episode 6, the season 1 finale, Armond enters Shane and Rachel’s room and defecates in Shane’s luggage as revenge. Shane comes in and is scared when he hears movement. After learning what happened to the Mossbachers, Shane is taking no chances, he grabs a knife and stabs the intruder, not knowing it was Armond.

Armond and Shane were both terrible people, but they weren’t alone. Which character on The White Lotus had you rolling your eyes the most?

Who is the most terrible characters on The White Lotus?

Belinda

Belinda is definitely the least terrible character we meet. On the contrary, she’s the kindest. Maybe even too kind and trusting. I never believed Tanya was going to help her and knew Belinda was in for heartbreak. It’s sad to see Belinda put on a fake smile in the final scene, ready to welcome a new group of likely equally terrible guests.

Quinn

Quinn is better off without his family. He seemed to finally find what he loves and I wish him the best!

Nicole

I’m ranking Nicole so high on this list because she truly is a strong woman. She’s a provider and businesswoman who worked hard to get to where she’s at. Not to mention, she deals with a daughter like Olivia.

Rachel

I admire Rachel’s desire to keep working and pursuing what she loves, but she lacks a confidence. I’m sad she went back to Shane. She deserves better.

Mark 

Mark isn’t a great person, but he’s not terrible, either. He cheated on Nicole years back, but does appear remorseful and has made up for it since. Nicole has chosen to forgive him, and Mark showed he really cared when he didn’t hesitate to tackle Kai.

Paula

I can’t with Paula or Olivia, but Paula is the lesser evil of the two. Even though she meant well by telling Kai to steal Nicole’s bracelets, things didn’t go according to plan and I do blame her for getting Kai in trouble. Now, Kai will likely be in jail for a very long time and he didn’t deserve any of this mess.

Tanya

Tanya may not think she’s terrible, but she is. She’s only kind and your friend when convenient or until she meets her next distraction. Tanya is someone you can never count on.

Olivia

The most terrible thing about Olivia, is that she doesn’t know she’s terrible, she believes she’s kind and making a difference, but she’s not. Not even close. It’s unfortunate that she left The White Lotus without learning anything. She’ll continue being the worst.

Armond 

Armond is the gaslighting king! And we don’t mean it as a compliment. Had he only admitted his mistake about the rooms to Shane from the beginning, he would still be alive.

Then, Armond still had a chance to make things right, but stuck Shane and Rachel in the same boat as Tanya, which made things so much worse.

Shane

Shane is a real nightmare! Instead of enjoying his honeymoon, his main focus was getting into the Pineapple Suite, which isn’t nearly as great as the room he was given, if you ask me. He’s a horrible husband who just want a trophy wife to sit there and be pretty, he was never supportive, and he’s oblivious to Rachel’s unhappiness.
