Welcome to the weekend! It has been a busy week with several new Netflix movies and shows being released over the past few days. If you’re not a weekday movie or show person then we made sure to list the best new titles that were just released so you can catch up.

What should you be watching during the last weekend of August 2021?

This week has a lot of options and some of them are already generating buzz in the Netflix top 10. There are multiple documentaries, several movies, a reality show, a children’s show, and a new mystery series.

One of the most (or least depending on who you ask) anticipated movies is He’s All That featuring TikTok star Addison Rae in her first real acting role. We’ll see how she did next week.

Before we get into this week’s list though, we definitely have to cover the big three from last week. The first was the action drama Sweet Girl starring Jason Momoa (Aquaman). That movie is sitting at number one in the Netflix top 10 at the moment despite terrible reviews.

The Loud House Movie is at number four and does have great audience reviews thus far. Finally, The Sandra Oh series The Chair currently sits at number six in the top 10 Netflix movies and shows. I’ve seen nothing but positive remarks about the series.

All of those entries are worth looking into if you haven’t yet. Now for this week’s entries.

New Netflix movies and shows this week

Best show this week on Netflix

Based on the fact that Clickbait arrived on Netflix on Wednesday and shot up to number three on the Netflix top 10, it is our best show this week.

In Clickbait, Nick Brewer (played by Adrian Grenier of Enterouge) is kidnapped and his kidnappers are making him post videos on Youtube. At some point, the kidnappers switch from typical threatening videos to exposing dark secrets from Nick’s past. His loved ones and the police scramble to figure out who might have taken Nick while also trying to figure out just who Nick is in this tense thriller.

Grenier is joined at the top of the cast list by Zoe Kazan (The Big Sick) and Betty Gabriel (Get Out). Clickbait is an eight-episode miniseries with episodes ranging between 42 and 52 minutes in length. It sounds like a great weekend binge option.

Best movie this week on Netflix

Last, but not least, our best movie of the week is Bob Ross: Happy Accidents, Betrayal & Greed. Currently sitting at number 10 in the most popular Netflix movies and shows, this documentary is about a man who brought joy to many but suffered behind the scenes.

Bob Ross is well known for his fun and soothing art instruction but this documentary takes you behind the scenes to look at his life. You will see the happy moments but the curtain is peeled back for you to see the not-so-happy things that Bob had to deal with as well. Reviews for this documentary from both critics and the general audience are positive so far so it’s certainly worth a look.
