American Horror Story season 10 is switching gears from bloodsucking vampires to aliens! After watching the premiere episode of “Death Valley,” we have questions! And at the top of the list is — did President Dwight Eisenhower really investigate aliens?
Ryan Murphy is always teaching us history. Well, with a twist! Most season of AHS (and all seasons of American Crime Story) are inspired by true stories, theories, or urban legends. So fans are always wondering how much is true.
Season 10 episode 7 kicks off the second part of American Horror Story: Double Feature, and at the center of it all are aliens. We all watched carefully, ready to compare it to AHS: Asylum, and so far, we are not disappointed.
We meet Dwight D. Eisenhower, portrayed by Neal McDonough. He cuts his vacation short to investigate aliens and, as it turns out, this really happened!
Dwight D. Eisenhower meets aliens in American Horror Story
Okay, it MAY have happened.
According to a report from The Washington Post, it’s true that the former president did leave vacation early to “make a secret nocturnal trip to a nearby Air Force base.” The source shares that he could have done this for a number of reasons, including meeting aliens or a dentist appointment.
Here’s where it gets interesting. The source reports that, the same night, the Associated Press reported that:
"“Pres. Eisenhower died tonight of a heart attack in Palm Springs.”"
Just two minutes later, the AP “retracted the report” and said that Eisenhower was still alive. Kind of a weird mistake, isn’t it? What is the truth? We have to assume it’s the latter, as Eisenhower lived until 1969.
Read the full report, it’s so interesting!
Season 10 episode 7 also features Amelia Earhart, who disappeared on July 2, 1937, and the episode takes place in 1954. I don’t know about you, but I’m already hooked!
