AMC and The Walking Dead announced on Friday, Oct. 7, that the show will return for the second installment of the final season on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022, at 9 p.m. ET. A new promo for the The Walking Dead season 11’s next eight episodes was also released.
The Walking Dead’s final season is divided in three parts and the first mid-season finale is October 10. With the announcements, fans now know how long they will have to wait until they see what happens after episode 1108’s “For Blood”.
The Walking Dead season 11 will continue in February 2022
After the pandemic threw The Walking Dead’s filming and premiere schedule up in the air, a February return is a chance for the series to return to its traditional February and October release schedule. If the pattern holds, the final eight episodes will air in the fall.
The release date announcement also came with a new teaser that reveals what’s coming up in the next eight episodes of the show’s final season.

With Alexandria in tatters at the end of 11A, it looks like the Commonwealth will arrive in time to save the day. But can they be trusted?
Leah and the remaining Reapers are still around and that means the survivors will continue to be at risk so long as they’re still around.
And, perhaps most importantly, it looks like several members of the community who were at risk in the 11A cliffhanger are alive and well in the teaser. So that’s reassuring.
It’s going to be a long wait before The Walking Dead returns for 11, but thankfully, there is TWD: World Beyond season 2 and Fear the Walking Dead season 7 to help pass the time.
World Beyond is currently airing at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Sunday nights, and Fear TWD season 7 returns October 17 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
