Child’s Play franchise: How many Chucky movies are there?

Spooky season is finally here! After what could be considered a spooky year thus far, Halloween is almost here and so is the time to watch scary movies like Child’s Play aka Chucky movies. While Child’s Play was the original name, the series is known more for giving us the main character than what the original franchise was called.

Nevertheless, since its start in the late ‘80s, Chucky has become a horror figure that has only recently been upstaged. While Annabelle is the most recent scary doll, Chucky has been killing and making people question what they’re seeing for years. Unlike Annabelle though, this doll has had a pretty unique horror history.

Originally, the Child’s Play franchise was more focused on the scares and giving Andy Barclay a problem wherever he would go. Then there was a small shift in the franchise in the 90s and early 00s to a horror-comedy approach. Then once the 2010s came, horror was back in business, and the franchise went back to horror roots.

How many Chucky movies are there in the Child’s Play franchise?

As noted above, the Child’s Play franchise has undergone a few changes since its introduction in 1988. However, our favorite red-headed menace hasn’t shifted his focus from being a general pain to anyone he comes in contact with.

In total, there are 8 Child’s Play films including a reboot which is par for the course so let’s get into them.
