Halloween came a bit early on Bob’s Burgers which is slightly disappointing. It would have been fun to see the Bob’s Burgers crew feature an episode a little closer to Halloween. Nevertheless, the show has been featuring a lot of our favorite duos from the series thus far into the season.

For Halloween, we saw Linda and Gayle paired up while Tina and Tammy have already been at odds this season. No doubt we’re all ready for an episode featuring Bob and Teddy together. These two have been through many ups and downs together much to Bob’s chagrin but they always end up friends in the end.

The formula for a Bob and Teddy episode is pretty simple as it’s mostly Teddy roping Bob into a crazy plan of his and then Bob reluctantly agreeing. Usually, something bad or unfortunate will happen in between before the two get out of harm’s way or end up doing something ridiculous. It’s a solid formula and one that doesn’t seem to get old when it comes to Bob and Teddy.

We’ll have to see what formula the writers employ for Season 12’s “Driving Big Dummy.” If you haven’t watched the episode yet, there will be spoilers and if you have, be sure to let us know your favorite moment in the comments!

Here’s everything you missed on Bob’s Burgers episode, “Driving Big Dummy.”

The episode begins with Bob getting a call about a new used sink for the restaurant and he’s afraid it won’t fit in the car. Teddy comes in a minute later and explains he’s going to a town close by to drop off a big dummy head so Bob can hitch a ride with him. Bob’s hesitant but Linda gets him to agree. Once on the trip, Teddy can’t stop talking.

Before they get there, Teddy decides to stop for food, and then he decides to stop again so they can use the bathroom. Once they get the sink, Bob is obviously very excited until a guy calls out to Teddy and they end up watching his band’s rehearsal. Before they can drop the dummy off, Teddy has to make another stop to drop off Tupperware.

Despite stopping, the guy isn’t there and before they leave, Teddy decides to ask Bob for help backing out. Teddy and Bob start arguing after Teddy gets stuck and the head falls off the trailer. It all comes to a boiling point when Bob says he shouldn’t have come on the trip and that he feels bad for Teddy. The episode ends with Bob appreciating Teddy because he truly cares about people as evidenced by the friends he gets to help them and admitting he admires Teddy for his friendliness.

Is Bob too harsh when it comes to Teddy or does Teddy deserve what he gets?

From the very beginning, the friendship between Bob and Teddy has been strained. At first, things were strained because Mort was also part of the group. Then things started to morph when Teddy became the only regular in the restaurant. Since then, things have really gone off the rails on Bob’s Burgers when it comes to Teddy and Bob’s friendship but is Bob too harsh to Teddy or does Teddy deserve what he gets?

This is an extremely loaded question and one that doesn’t have a simple answer. In a lot of ways, Bob can be a bit harsh to Teddy. Throughout the series, we’ve watched as Bob said Teddy wasn’t his best friend, only used Teddy when he needed help with something, and in “Driving Big Dummy,” didn’t appreciate Teddy’s friendliness. Considering how nice Bob can be, it does seem like Teddy can bring the worse out in him.

On the flip side, Teddy can be annoying and at times, overbearing when it comes to Bob. He’s a little overeager to help Bob which isn’t always a bad thing. That’s not to mention the fact that Teddy seems to have a crush on Linda, tries to make Bob jealous as a friend, and rarely seems to listen to Bob at times. It’s truly a mixed bag when it comes to Teddy as a character and as a friend to Bob.

Ultimately though, it does feel like Bob can be harsh on Teddy sometimes. No doubt Teddy deserves it, but sometimes Bob needs to think before he acts. A perfect example is “Driving Big Dummy” as Teddy has those friends who saved their butts. At the same time though, Teddy does need to work on respecting Bob and his space. It’s a balance which is something I think the Bob’s Burgers team could work on in the future.

Nevertheless, Teddy is definitely an unofficial member of the Belcher family. Considering Teddy has watched the kids, spent holidays with them, and basically been Bob’s one consistent customer, it’s safe to say that. Hopefully in the future though, things with Bob and Teddy are a little friendlier than we’ve seen in the past.

Bob’s Burgers airs Sundays on Fox at 9/8c.
