Hardin, who was born in 1967, started acting at an early age. Her first role dates back to 1976 and in the early 1980s she appeared on popular shows like Little House on the Prairie, Diff’rent Strokes, The Love Boat and Magnum, P.I.. She also played Baby on the Dirty Dancing TV series. She was nominated for an Emmy for her role as Tammy Cashman on Transparent.
Despite a long list of roles, it’s her portrayal of Jan Levinson-Gould that stands out the most. Initially, Jan was prim and proper on The Office, working hard to keep Michael Scott in line. She delivers the news in the pilot that Michael will be forced to fire someone as the Scranton office downsizes, sending Michael into a frenzy.
However, when her marriage ends she finds herself in a vulnerable position and she spends a night with Michael Scott. Though the events of the night remain shrouded in mystery, and definitely up for interpretation depending on the person you ask, it’s a night that changes everything between Jan and Michael and it impacts their stories throughout the series.
