Who are the judges on Alter Ego?

Audiences have mixed feelings about FOX’s latest singing competition series, Alter Ego. Not only do some people feel the show sends viewers mixed messages, but many don’t even get the concept.

If you don’t know much about the show, let’s begin with the basics: Who are the judges?

How does Alter Ego work?

The new competition show on FOX allows contestants to create an avatar. It is this avatar that will perform in front of a live audiences while they sing backstage. Audiences at home can see what the performers look like, but not the judges. Then, the judges pick their favorite singer, who will be safe from elimination. At the end of the night, someone goes home, but not before performing as themselves.

Alter Ego promotes diversity, uniqueness, and self-confidence…which is why it’s confusing why they hide behind avatars. But that’s another story for another day!

Who are the judges and host on Alter Ego?

Alter Ego is hosted by Rocsi Diaz.

Fans may recognize Diaz from her days hosting 106 & Park on BET from 2006-2012. She has always worked at Entertainment Tonight. 

Sitting at the judges desk, you’ll find: Alanis Morissette, Nick Lachey, will.i.am., and Grimes. They are a unique and fun bunch who really work well together.

Morissette is a singer-songwriter and actress, some of her songs include “Ironic,” “You Oughta Know,” and “Hand in My Pocket.” As for her acting credits, they include Sex and the City and Curb Your Enthusiasm. 

Nick Lachey needs no introduction! Fans best know him from his days in the boyband 98 Degrees and his successful solo career that followed. Nick has done it all. Reality TV, acting, and even won the fifth season of The Masked Singer. 

Then, we have will.i.am., another artist we are all familiar with. The rapper, singer-songwriter is the lead member of Black Eyed Peas, he also has a successful solo career.

Last, but not least, we have Grimes. A talented musician known for incorporating various styles such as pop, hip hop, and R&B. She recently released her fifth studio album, Miss Anthropocene, in 2020.
