Is Michael Grant leaving 911?

Michael learned that David was heading to Haiti to help with relief efforts after the hurricane. What would Michael choose to do on 911 Season 5?

We knew that there was a risk David wouldn’t make it out of the most recent episode of 911 Season 5. He was in surgery when there was an explosion in the hospital. What we didn’t realize is that David had plans to leave anyway.

At the start of the episode, he told Michael that he was heading to Haiti. He’d be able to help save lives there after the hurricane.

So, Michael decided that he didn’t want to lose David. He couldn’t stop David leaving for Haiti, but he could make it clear that he’d be around when David got back. He wanted to propose to David (that turned out to be a yes, by the way!), and that was when the explosion hit. Michael rethought his plans once he found out David had survived.

At the end of the episode, Michael announced that he had decided to go to Haiti too. While he can’t help with the medical efforts, he can help the country rebuild. It means he can do something good, and then he’d be able to be with David at the same time.

So, is that it? Is Michael Grant really leaving 911 Season 5?

Update: Deadline has confirmed that Rockmond Dunbar is leaving 911.

It certainly looks so. Harry, May, and Athena all gave him their blessings. They were happy to see him happy, so they couldn’t exactly say no. The end of the episode gave us some flashbacks of previous episodes with Michael and Athena, Michael and his kids, and even Michael and Bobby. They are family, and that’s never going to change. However, it did give us a “final” feeling.

There is nothing at the time of writing this to say if Rockmond Dunbar is definitely leaving the series for good or not. It just feels like it, and we’ll be sure to keep an eye on that.
