In a world where Thanksgiving is overshadowed by Christmas, Bob’s Burgers is here to scream “That’s not right!” While it might not make anything change, the Belcher family has always celebrated Thanksgiving even if Linda might put the tree up before then.

Nevertheless, Thanksgiving is a big holiday on Bob’s Burgers. Looking at other animated shows, none seem to carry the Thanksgiving tradition like Bob’s Burgers does. Maybe it’s a testament to the writers or the staff of the series, maybe Loren Bouchard really enjoys the holiday. Either way, Bob’s Burgers has always made Thanksgiving a big deal.

Even so, the Belchers always seem to have some kind of disaster take place on every holiday, Thanksgiving or not. One thing rings true with every holiday episode, though and it’s that the Belcher family will always love and support each other. The rest of their extended family, maybe not but the Belcher clan is a solid one.

Before getting started, there will be spoilers from “Stuck in the Kitchen With You.” If you watched the Bob’s Burgers Thanksgiving episode, be sure to let us know which moment you were most thankful for.

Here’s a quick recap of Bob’s Burgers episode, “Stuck In the Kitchen With You.”

“Stuck In The Kitchen With You” starts with the Belcher family going to visit the retirement home on Thanksgiving and nothing seems to go right including the home losing their cook. Of course, Bob decides to step in and cook the entire Thanksgiving meal for the retirement home. Linda tries to get the kids to help and Louise is the one who ends up getting stuck with Bob.

Meanwhile, Linda tries to help out Sergeant Bosco with his mother Lillian, and Tina, Zeke, and Gene work together to try and make the parade happen. Louise starts to feel upset over how Bob is treating her and decides to be as horrible as possible so Bob won’t want her help. Gene, Tina, and Zeke decide to make an actual parade with floats and balloons somehow while Louise continues to screw up while with Bob.

Linda finally gets to her breaking point and tells Sergeant Bosco’s mother to get over herself and appreciate her son. Louise finally admits to Bob that she was being bad at cooking so he wouldn’t want her help but regrets it since she wants to use the fire gun and Bob is understandably upset. It all comes to a head when Tina, Zeke, and Gene have some balloons and a float which results in Lillian leaving her room and Bob finally apologizing to Louise. The episode ends with the family eating at the retirement home and Louise getting to use the fire gun.

Who was the real Thanks-Zilla in Bob’s Burgers episode?

Throughout the course of the episode, the kids refer to Bob as a “Thanks-Zilla” which is basically Godzilla and Thanksgiving put together. It’s a pretty clever way to describe someone especially when it comes to the holidays. Even so, it does bring up an interesting question within the episode, who is the real Thanks-Zilla from “Stuck In The Kitchen With You?”

Obviously, there are few people we can count out as Tina, Gene and Zeke were doing their best to make a Thanksgiving miracle happen. It was incredibly sweet and nice to see them try to put on a parade for the residents. Those three are definitely not in the running which only leaves a few other people. As for another person to take off the list, Sergeant Bosco was the only person who came to visit his mother on Thanksgiving so he’s off the list.

Then there’s Linda who was annoying at times but she eventually calmed down and realized she couldn’t change Lillian’s mind. It was sweet and it was clear she learned her lesson so she’s out of the running. That leaves only a few people so it’s going to be a tight race to see who is the real “Thanks-Zilla” from the episode. Of course, it would only be right to say Bob and Louise are somewhat tied for the title, but it doesn’t seem right.

Bob just wanted to have a perfect Thanksgiving but was willing to jeopardize having a fun time with Louise. As for Louise, she was willing to screw up only because she felt slighted by how Bob treated her. It’s a real conundrum as Bob and Louise both acted pretty horribly to each other but they don’t even hold a candle to Lillian Bosco.

Big surprise as the “Thanks-Zilla” from the episode was Lillian Bosco. She spent almost the entire episode being upset over her son who didn’t show up rather than appreciate the one who did. It was such a frustrating moment and she almost ruined the holiday. She was an unlikely candidate when the episode started but in the end, she almost ruined everything for her son and didn’t even try to apologize.

Overall though, it was another great Thanksgiving for the Belchers. While their plans went awry, they made the best of it. It was also nice to see Zeke appear in the episode, too. It also gave us a new word to describe our less-than-stellar family members on Thanksgiving. That’s really all we Bob’s Burgers fans can ask for.

Bob’s Burgers airs Sundays on Fox at 9/8c.
