After the Grinch stole Christmas in 2020 at Universal Studios Hollywood, the holiday festivities are back at the world’s coolest working movie lot. An active movie studio with a theme park next to its production stages, Universal is bringing some of its own fan-favorite Christmas movies to life as interactive experiences for guests in 2021.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) was filmed on site at Universal Studios and you can experience a Grinchmas Who-bilation there amongst the Whos in Whoville. The immersive event features meet and greets with the Grinch himself, Cindy Lou Who, and Max, along with the Mayor of Whoville and various other Whos. At the center of the town square is a topsy-turvy Christmas tree, and the Whos host a tree lighting celebration each night that retells the story of How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

Across the way from Whoville, you can enter Hogsmeade Village all decorated for Christmas and feel the magic of the season by casting spells and sipping on hot butterbeer. At night, wizards and muggles alike are treated to a light show that takes over Hogwarts Castle and gives guests an inside look at the Yule Ball, Hogwarts’ Christmas trees, some tricks from Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes, and much more.

In addition, Universal Studios Hollywood also has Christmas decorations and surprises for other fan-favorite movies. You’ll find Shrek, Fiona and Donkey all wearing some holiday sweaters and winter accessories. The pets from The Secret Life of Pets have also decorated New York street and its apartment balconies with lights, garland, wreaths and presents.

If you loved themed Christmas trees, you’ll also be excited to find movie-specific trees that honor classic family films. Jurassic World has a tree with flying pterodactyl ornaments and the Minions from Despicable Me have assembled a tree for Gru with Minion-themed ornaments. Keep an eye out for other fun decorations with nods to movies featured in the park.
