Her sports drama will be set at an HBCU called Bringston University, a campus brimming with black excellence and talent across all fields. Among those who walk the green and tread up and down the campus’ historic buildings is Damon Sims, a baseball star who’s similar to Spencer James in his habit of shouldering the weight of others’ needs.
The two athletes will have a lot on their plates besides their chosen sports and academic pursuits as maturing comes with more than a few growing pains. Not to mention coming into one’s own often involves shared journeys of both the platonic and romantic variety.
Here’s what to expect from the upcoming series.

All American: Homecoming cast
Geffri Maya as Simone Hicks.
Peyton Alex Smith as Damon Sims, a baseball phenom originally from Chicago’s south side. He moved to an affluent community after a national scandal put his Little League team in the spotlight in the worst possible way. His love for the game, ever present in his life, has dimmed over the years thanks to his mother, who manages his career.
Kelly Jenrette as Amara Patterson, a popular professor at Bringston, Amara’s success as a journalist and now an educator has seen her career flourish. Her activism, however, isn’t everyone’s cup of tea neither is her determination to drag truth into the light.
Cory Hardrict as Coach Marcus Turner, a baseball phenom in his own right, Coach Turner had a promising professional career ahead of him until an injury put a stop to that bright future. Now he’s the assistant head coach at his alma mater Bringston, one determined to raise star athletes and honorable, upstanding men.
Sylvester Powell as Jessie “JR” Raymond Jr., Damon’s friend who grew up in Atlanta. He’s a skilled and talented player but doesn’t have the inherent gift that Damon does when it comes to the sport. No matter how hard he works, his friend always has a leg up on him and the shine that comes with that. It’s a point of tension in the two young men’s friendship.
Camille Hyde as Thea Mays, a sophomore who’s a queen bee with somewhat of a mean streak. She’s serious about her skill and perception as an athlete on campus. When Simone comes to Bringston, the two strike up a bit of a rivalry which often puts them at odds. However, Thea respects the position they both hold as Black women in tennis and sees the importance and significance of that reality.
Netta Walker as Keisha McCalla, the unofficial mayor of Bringston, Keisha’s been on the university’s campus her whole life thanks to her father’s position as an administrator. She knows pretty much everything about the university and the people who’ve stepped foot on its campus which means the freshman blues aren’t likely to get her down. Though if there were one thing Keisha could have it’d be the ability to pursue dance as a career not medicine, something her father is not on board with at all.
Rhoyle Ivy King as Nathaniel.
All American: Homecoming synopsis
"From the executive producers of ALL AMERICAN, ALL AMERICAN: HOMECOMING is a young adult sports drama set against the backdrop of the HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) experience at Bringston University, where Black excellence is a way of life. The series follows Simone (Geffri Maya, “All American”), a young tennis hopeful from Beverly Hills who is trying to fight her way back to great after some time away from the court, and Damon (Peyton Alex Smith, “Legacies”), an elite baseball player from Chicago who is carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. After Simone’s aunt Amara Patterson (Kelly Jenrette, “Manhunt”), a journalism teacher and activist, exposes a scandal that threatens to derail the school’s beloved baseball program, new coach Marcus Turner (Cory Hardrict, “The Outpost”) is determined to bring a championship back to Bringston the honest way — with Damon’s help. Damon will adjust to his new normal with fellow baseball player and childhood friend JR (Sylvester Powell, “Five Points”) by his side.Meanwhile, as Simone struggles to find her footing, she will get a little guidance from Thea (Camille Hyde, “Katy Keene”), the super-competitive queen bee of the Bringston tennis team, and Keisha (Netta Walker, “Come as You Are”), the school’s unofficial mayor, who will help Simone learn how to live her best life.As they contend with the high stakes of college sports, Simone and Damon will also navigate the highs, lows, and sexiness of unsupervised early adulthood at a prestigious HBCU."
That description embodies our favorite thing about CW shows: drama, drama, and more drama. Looks like this spin-off has some sizzle baked into it. We expect nothing less from this network. Though we do wonder how Simone’s storylines from All American will fit into this show.
Will she be a young woman whose marriage to her high school love Jordan Baker was dissolved? How will that affect her character in this show? Simone did go through a lot while attending Beverly High including giving her son up for adoption with a loving family.
The description has provided a lot of information on what to expect from this show, but we’re looking forward to seeing Simone’s initial journey to the Bringston University campus.
