9 best Christmas rom-coms to watch over the holiday

Happiest Season -- Meeting your girlfriend’s family for the first time can be tough. Planning to propose at her family’s annual Christmas dinner — until you realize that they don’t even know she’s gay — is even harder. When Abby (Kristen Stewart) learns that Harper (Mackenzie Davis) has kept their relationship a secret from her family, she begins to question the girlfriend she thought she knew. Happiest Season is a holiday romantic comedy that hilariously captures the range of emotions tied to wanting your family’s acceptance, being true to yourself, and trying not to ruin Christmas. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for Christmas. Family, food, and presents are at the top of my favorite things about the holiday. Do you know what I also love? Romantic comedies aka rom-coms. What are some of the best Christmas rom-coms?

As a cinephile, I love all types of movies that deal with the holidays. The first two Home Alone films are fun for the entire family. Animated classics like Frosty the Snowman and the Polar Express are crowd-pleasers. I’m even in the belief that Die Hard is a Christmas movie.

These films are all great, but I’m also a fan of the romantic comedy. Let’s be honest. Everyone is looking for romance around the holidays even if you don’t want to admit it. Sharing a holiday moment with someone special is something you may never forget. For all the tough guys out there, it’s ok to channel your sensitive side around the holidays!

To help get in a loving mood, try watching a Christmas rom-com. This genre comes in all shapes and sizes. Some have more romance than comedy and vice versa. Others toe the line between cheesy and serious. Thankfully, there are plenty of rom-coms to watch.
