5 Hulu shows and movies to watch in January 2022

A new month brings some exciting new content to Hulu. The list is overwhelming, but here are the top five Hulu shows and movies to check out.

With a new month comes a new selection of content on streaming platforms. Hulu is one of those streaming platforms.

There are a lot of new shows and movies arriving. Some of these are Hulu Originals, but there are also a lot of shows from broadcast networks that will air the following day on this streaming platform.

The full list of arrivals can end up being extremely overwhelming. That’s why we cut the list down to just the top releases for the month.

5 must-watch Hulu shows and movies in January 2022

This list is in release date order. It’s just too hard to compare the various genres.

The Cleaning Lady

This is a new series on FOX which will air the following day on this streaming platform. It follows a doctor in Cambodian who heads to the States for life-saving surgery for her son. She’s an undocumented woman, though, and that means doing terrible jobs instead of using her skills.

She ends up cleaning houses for a cartel boss. Is she willing to sell her soul to save her son? You betcha!

Episodes air on FOX on Mondays and on Hulu on Tuesdays.

Women of the Movement

There are a lot of wonderful limited series out there. ABC is bringing one of them in January 2022. Women of the Movement is focused on a true story, following Mamie Till Mobley doing everything she can to get justice for her son Emmett Till in Jim Crow’s South.

It’s a powerful historical drama. There are six episodes airing weekly, with the first airing on Jan. 6 on ABC. The episodes will air on Hulu the following day, starting on Jan. 7.

Pivoting

Another of the shows heading to broadcast and then coming to the streamer is Pivoting. It’s a comedy on FOX that follows three childhood friends who mourn the loss of their fourth friend. They have to face the fact that life is too short and you have no idea how long you have on the planet.

And so, the three women alter their current paths. They strengthen their bonds, but they also follow a series of self-indulgent and ill-advised decisions

The episodes air on FOX on Sundays, starting on Jan. 9. They’ll be on the streamer on Mondays starting Jan. 10.

Sex Appeal

One of the Hulu Originals to check out is the teen comedy Sex Appeal. Mika Abdalla plays Avery, a perfectionst who gets her friend Larson to help her prepare for her first time with her long-distance boyfriend. They go through all sorts of research and testing, and Avery is about to find out there’s far more to sex and romance than she ever thought possible.

One thing Avery will learn is that relationships are more than just about the heart. The head plays a part, and she’ll need to engage both to make this relationship a success.

How I Met Your Father

Finally, it’s all about the How I Met Your Mother spin-off that has been the talk of the town for some time. Hilary Duff stars in this series that follows a woman telling her children how she, well, met their father!

We get to see Duff as Sophie as she navigates the world of friendships and relationships. If you loved the original series, then you’ll certainly want to watch this one.

The first two episodes drop on Tuesday, Jan. 18. Episodes are then released weekly on the streamer.
