The 355 is our first big theatrical release of the year, coming out this weekend. The 355 has a loaded cast with Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong’o, Penelope Cruz and Diane Kruger.

When you watch the trailer, you may say, “I’ve seen this movie before,” when you read the plot, you may say, “I’ve seen this movie before,” and when you watch the movie, you may say, “I’ve seen this movie before.” But does this make it a bad film? No.

I will be the first to admit that I love a no non-sense action movie that has a minimal plot and a whole lot of action. So for me, The 355 was right up my alley, but what I loved more than anything was seeing it unfold with these rules typically played by men, played by women.

Jessica Chastain is a standout in The 355

Let me also admit that Jessica Chastain is one of my favorite actresses and I loved watching her kick ass in Ava, so to see her back in this type of role made me very happy. Factor in that we see her fighting, kicking ass, and taking names. When I say I needed a moment, folks, I NEEDED A MOMENT.

Her counterparts in the film, Lupita Nyong’o, who I have now dreamed up scenarios where she is the next James Bond because I loved her in this role, even though I wish we saw her in more fight sequences throughout the film.

The fight sequences with the women were incredible. Seeing Lupita, Jessica, and Diane fend off the villains over and over again is something that I can get behind every single time. I would watch The 355, The 455, The 555, whatever you want to name the next ten sequels.

I rather enjoyed the final twenty minutes of the film. I thought a terrific villainous turn by someone I won’t spoil really ramped up the intensity and the stakes of the final act. I wish they would’ve had these high of stakes throughout the film.

If you feel comfortable enough to head out to the theaters this weekend, I would recommend sitting back and enjoying the ride that is The 355. At this time, we’re not sure when the movie will get a streaming release.
