Throughout the 10 seasons of Friends, there’s a long list of memorable guest stars who graced our screens. Whether it be Reese Witherspoon as Rachel Green‘s younger sister or Julia Roberts as Chandler’s childhood friend and romantic interest, everyone has a favorite guest appearance. Most of the times, these minor characters are used as plot devices for our main six.

Brooke Shields is no exception, playing Joey Tribbiani’s stalker Erika Ford in the season 2 episode “The One After The Superbowl, Part 1.” Erika isn’t exactly in the right mind for dating, but once Joey meets her and sees how beautiful she is, they go out to dinner. Shields did an excellent job in the small part, and, according to the actress herself, it helped her land a starring role on her own TV show, Suddenly Susan.

But not everyone loved Shields performance on Friends. Namely, her husband at the time, tennis player Andre Agassi, who was furious about it.

Brooke Shields’ appearance on Friends received extreme reaction

As reported by the Daily Mail, Shields opened up on the unfortunate reaction Agassi had to her Friends appearance in her 2014 memoir, There Was A Little Girl: The Real Story of Mother and Me. The model/actress revealed that Agassi stormed off the set when watching her film her scene with Matt LeBlanc, and later threw an absolute fit about it.

According to Shields, the athlete smashed all of his trophies out of rage and she had to replace all of them. “Upon arrival he systematically smashed and destroyed every single trophy he had won, including Wimbledon and the US Open, never mind all the others,” she recalled.

Apparently, Agassi believed Shields “made him look a fool” when she licked LeBlanc’s fingers while filming their scene together for Friends.

Shields also opened up on Agassi’s addiction to crystal meth, something that presumably got in the way of their marriage. The two were married in 1997 but, unfortunately, it didn’t take long for the actress to realize they had made a mistake. They officially divorced in 1999. In 2009, Agassi spoke out about his drug abuse issues in his own autobiography, Open.

Erika and Joey’s dinner scene is one of the most memorable scenes from Friends, and we hope Shields is able to look back at her time on the sitcom with the good memories she had, not the bad ones.
