Paramount+ renews Mayor of Kingstown for second season

Mayor of Kingstown fans, get excited! Paramount+, the streaming platform from ViacomCBS, announced today that Mayor of Kingstown season 2 is official. The crime-drama has been renewed for a second season.

Audiences knew a renewal of the Paramount+ series was almost a guarantee, as the platform reports, the premiere of Mayor of Kingstown was the top original scripted drama on the service with 2.6 million total viewers. That’s right, you may think Netflix and HBO Max have more to offer in the ongoing streaming wars, but don’t be so quick to sleep on Paramount+! The streaming platform is quickly dishing out new, engaging series. We can’t wait to watch another season of Mayor of Kingstown, and are excited to see what else the platform has in store for subscribers this year.

Mayor of Kingstown season 2 is happening at Paramount+

The crime thriller follows the McLusky’s, a family of power brokers living in Kingstown Michigan. The series tackles issues such as racism and inequality, and never pulls any punches. The McLusky family is determined to bring order and justice to their town.

The star-studded drama includes Jeremy Renner (as Mike McLusky, who takes over as the “Mayor”), Dianne Wiest (as Miriam McLusky), Kyle Chandler (as Kyle McLusky), Hugh Dillon, Emma Laird, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, and others.

About its renewal, Executive Producer David Glasser commented, “we are thrilled that shows like Mayor of Kingstown — original stories with layered character and important themes — are able to thrive on Paramount+. We can’t wait to delve back into the lives of the McLusky family for season two.”
