With four films from the MCU already released back in 2021, it seems Marvel has no plans to stop running this cinematic universe train and since Spider-Man: No Way Home had an assortment of cameos and nostalgic appearances, many Marvel fans have speculated that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will house quite a few cameos ranging from Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine to the variant Iron Man hopefully portrayed by Tom Cruise.

Sadly, it seems that the Doctor Strange sequel may not unleash the same amount of hype that No Way Home did. Here’s why that may be the case for some fans.

No special teasers or announcements ahead of Multiverse of Madness

One thing that fans have noticed is that there has been little evidence to support the claim that the this Strange sequel will have any big-named cameos for its film. A year before Spider-Man: No Way Home was released, Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx were already set to reprise their roles as Doctor Octopus and Electro.

Meanwhile, the trailer for Multiverse of Madness just recently came out after the release of No Way Home. There has only been speculation of new multiverse characters or already established characters from other Marvel properties. There has been no outstanding leaked footage from Twitter of hidden cast members on the set. Andrew Garfield, Tobey Maguire and Charlie Cox had leaked footage and pictures suggesting that they were in the film.

There hasn’t been any inkling that any Fantastic Four members would appear or if Hugh Jackman would reprise his role as Wolverine. The closest thing to a leak was Tom Cruise in a motion capture suit but it’s unclear for which film.

Multiverse of Madness is coming in too early after No Way Home

As big of a movie that No Way Home was, it would only make sense for Marvel to slow down with the epic spectacles. No Way Home was almost an Avengers film with the amount of villains and the beloved heroes returning to screen. Normally, to break up the tension, Marvel would not have such colossal movies back to back. They would usually add a teaser film before the grand finale as Black Panther was the smaller teaser for Infinity War and Captain Marvel was a slow warm-up for Endgame.

If the Strange sequel is anything like No Way Home, having two cameo-filled movies back-to-back might seem like the MCU is milking itself dry.

Multiverse of Madness cameos may add little to the storyline

One obvious reason fans won’t get the characters they want in the film is that it may add very little to the story. Understandably, it’s a movie about the multiverse, but adding in characters where they may not fit into Stephan Strange’s solo film may not be the best of ideas.

This idea may have worked for No Way Home since it united all of the major Spider-Men but Strange doesn’t seem to have much of a close connection with Wolverine, Deadpool or the Fantastic Four.
