We have some updates regarding where Spider-Man: No Way Home will stream and you’re certainly going to want to hear this!

Contrary to popular belief, the smash-hit 2021 Marvel film will not be coming to HBO Max, Hulu, or Disney+ any time soon. Though the sites tend to receive newly-released blockbuster films fairly quickly, this movie, unfortunately, is an exception. And in speaking of exceptions, it seems that Spider-Man: No Way Home won’t be arriving on Netflix after all.

Earlier last year, the streaming platform announced its highly anticipated partnership with Sony in which Netflix users will be able to stream Sony Pictures’ theatrical releases beginning 2022. However, it’s clear that this Marvel movie was omitted from this deal—for now, at least.

If, after knowing all this, you guessed Starz as the streaming site to fulfill your Spider-Man needs then you’re certainly right as this is the first place the 2021 film will stream. But when can you view this movie on the platform? We tell you everything to know, here.

Spider-Man: No Way Home Starz release date

IGN reports Spider-Man: No Way Home will begin streaming in about six months’ time, which means you can expect to see Tom Holland along with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon on your screen in July 2022.

As for why the release date is incredibly far from today, Starz CEO Jeffrey Hirsch explains:

"While films seem to provide a big jump in viewers when they arrive on the service, they fade much quicker than TV shows do. Ours is a retention game, not an acquisition game. Lining up content week to week, 52 weeks a year. Seeking to move our core audience from one show to the next."

Additionally, Hirsch states that, because of the aforementioned observations, Starz wants to curate a bigger audience beyond when the 2021 film officially releases on its site, and the only way to do that, he believes, is to create a line-up of similar content viewers can watch post-No Way Home. Naturally, this takes time hence why Hirsch estimates 6 months for the newest installment of Spider-Man to release.

This may come as a bummer for those who wanted to watch the film from home at the beginning of the new year, but hopefully, more options become available in the near or distant future.
