More animated movies to watch: My Father’s Dragon and The Bad Guys

Based on the book series of the same name, The Bad Guys is a Dreamworks’ release and it seems like it has the potential to be a classic. Following a group of anthropomorphic animals, this film features a gang of “bad guys” as they decide to “be good” as a way to avoid going to jail. It’s all going according to plan until a villain emerges that could make things a lot more difficult than the gang originally thought.

Aside from having a really cool animation style, this film also has a pretty stellar voice cast with the likes of Sam Rockwell, Craig Robinson, and Anthony Ramos all voicing characters. This one is obviously marketed more towards kids and their parents, but it seems like it’s going to be a lot of fun. Plus the trailer promises that there are going to be tons of action so make sure to check this one out when it comes out in April.

Keeping with the theme of kids’ movies, this next one is going to be a Netflix original and that’s My Father’s Dragon. This is another one based on a popular book and this time, it’s following a boy who goes to an island to try and rescue a baby dragon. While it seems like it could be simple, no doubt Netflix is going to flesh out the story even more.

The illustrations for the book are just gorgeous by themselves, but it’ll be nice to see how Netflix decides to animate this one. It would be really cool to see it in a hand-drawn style, but you never know. At this point, it’s unclear when the film will be released but Netflix still has it being released in 2022 so it made the cut.
