10. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Original Release Date: November 18, 2005

Box Office Earnings: With an estimated budget of $150m, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire easily made it back with a worldwide gross of $896m. However, it wasn’t all success at opening weekend. While it did make $102m in the U.S., it fell just short of £15m in the UK!

Critical Acclaim: The movie was nominated for one Oscar for Best Achievement in Art Direction, but didn’t win it. It did win Best Production Design at the BAFTA Awards in 2006, though. On Rotten Tomatoes, it still holds an 88% score from critics and a 74% score from audiences.

About the Role: Cedric Digory was introduced at the start of the movie as an older Hufflepuff student at Hogwarts. He would be the one to represent the school in the Triwizard Cup, which would end up seeing four students after magic was used to make sure Harry Potter would take part.

Robert Pattison stood out as a star to watch in this understated role. Despite not being in it much, he certainly left a mark and not because he would become the first on-screen death in the Harry Potter franchise.

Simply the Best: This was Robert Pattinson’s first big role. While it was a small role, it would have a knock-on effect for Harry Potter and the whole of Hogwarts. And when Pattinson was cast as Edward Cullen, everyone remembered him as the guy who played Cedric Digory.

Pattinson was able to hold his own and enter a franchise that was already three movies in. He brought a book character to life that readers hadn’t truly gotten to know, making it his own while offering everything the book-first fans needed.
