After months of eager waiting by swathes of fans across the globe, the official trailer for Netflix‘s Heartstopper has finally arrived, kicking off the countdown to the television show’s release. Here is all you need to know about the coming-of-age show for young people.

Heartstopper synopsis

Produced by See-Saw Films and based on the webcomic series by Alice Oseman, Heartstopper follows the story of two British grammar school boys (Nick and Charlie) in their progression from friendship to love whilst dealing with a number of hard-hitting issues and taboo themes including eating disorders, mental health and coming out as LGBTQ+.

The show’s plot lines and characters are likely to follow those of the source material thanks to the incredibly close involvement of Oseman herself, with the following being stated on their Twitter back in June 2021:
