NCIS season 19 episode 16 was a great episode for Agent Jessica Knight, who was the focus as they determined whether or not a man did kill his wife who had gone missing five months earlier. The episode also highlighted podcasts and how they could have an affect on the particulars of a case.

After a gender reveal party is interrupted by vultures vomiting up human remains, they learn that they belong to Emma Radner, who had gone missing five months earlier. Her husband, Sam, was heavily accused of the murder and all evidence seems to point to him. Even her sister, who lives nearby, is sure that he is the killer.

When Jessica goes into the house in order to talk to him, she finds him in his bedroom with a gun to his head. Even though Jessica had her own thoughts thanks to a podcast that talked about the case, she gives Sam the time to talk about his wife. Even though the podcast only highlighted that bad times in their marriage, he is thinking of the good, such as dancing or Emma putting a flower in her hair.

However, when the team does eventually find Emma, despite her being in a location known to Sam, evidence shows that he did not kill her. She has a flower in her hair and Sam had sent her flowers after he left on a business trip to Florida. It turns out that he was innocent all along.

NCIS season 19 episode 16 involves a podcast and a murder

Before letting him go, the team asks Sam who else would have access to the home. The only one he can think of is their family friend, Walt, who had come to be with Emma’s sister along with his wife, Nance.

Did anyone else clock who the killer was before we even got to that part? Well, it was certainly a no brainer that the actual killer was Nance, who believed Emma was having an affair with her husband.

In a beautiful scene at the end, Jessica comes to see Sam, who is at his wife’s grave. Her sister comes to apologize to him, but he has already forgiven her, knowing that she was only fighting for her sister.

The episode was really well done and showed Jessica as one of the driving forces, along with Kasie, who had been following the case with her. They got the chance to have real justice for Emma.

One of the plus sides of the episode was seeing how much Torres was affected by the idea of a podcast not talking about his case correctly. If this does, indeed, lead to him and Kasie having their very own NCIS podcast, we would love to tune in!
