We like to think the main six cast members of Friends — Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc — are as close in real life as their characters are on the sitcom. However, it’s been nearly 18 years since the finale aired on NBC, and though the actors reunited in 2021 for the reunion special, they aren’t inseparable any longer. And this was proven back in 2015 when Aniston got married and did not invite all of her co-stars.

The Rachel Green actress wed Justin Theroux in August 2015 after a few years of dating. The two actors caught everyone off guard with their surprise wedding, which TMZ reported at the time was even a surprise to the guests, who were told they were attending a birthday party for Theroux.

Friends fans were ecstatic to hear of Aniston’s marriage, but upset to find out not everyone was included. While Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow were in attendance, Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry were not invited at all. But the good news is that the actors weren’t bitter over not being asked to come.

Apparently, according to LeBlanc, it was a small event, which is “most likely” why he and Perry were excluded, according to Entertainment Tonight.

How Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc felt about missing Jennifer Aniston’s wedding

While speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Perry admitted he was “surprised” to find out about Aniston’s wedding, but clarified that he was “very happy” for her and Theroux. LeBlanc shared similar sentiments, saying, “I wasn’t there, so I wish her the best.” He also spoke to People Magazine about not being invited, explaining:

"“I think they’re a great couple. I think she’s happy. And that’s all I care about is that Jen’s happy. If she wanted me there, I would have been there.”"

“Everybody is okay,” LeBlanc added, making sure people knew there wasn’t any beef between the cast. “The girls were there. You’ve got to have the girls there.” According to Entertainment Tonight, Cox was even Aniston’s Maid of Honor.

As for David Schwimmer’s part, he has never spoken out about why he wasn’t in attendance at Aniston’s wedding, but according to

, he was “angry” that he missed an invitation. Of course, until Schwimmer reveals how he really felt himself, we don’t truly know what he thought about the exclusion.

Though it’s shocking not all the main cast members of Friends were invited to Jennifer Aniston’s wedding, it’s good to know it wasn’t because of bad blood.
