Bridgerton star Simone Ashley confirms Kate and Anthony will return for season 3

Dear readers, I come bearing wonderful news! Bridgerton season 2 star Simone Ashley, who played strong-willed Kate Sharma, had an exciting update to share regarding Bridgerton season 3.

Ashley confirmed that Kate and Anthony will both return in Bridgerton season 3! That’s right. The passionate love story continues. I do wonder if the Netflix series will choose to take elements from the rest of the book or move in a different direction.

While I haven’t read the books, I do know the show has kept even readers of the novels on their toes. They changed up Kate and Anthony’s story, and the third season may not even take on the third book just yet as Shonda Rhimes hinted at recently.

It’s not known if they’re going to be back as part of the main cast. Phoebe Dynevor, who played the eldest Bridgerton daughter Daphne, only guest-starred in the show’s second season. And our favorite Duke, Simon, didn’t appear at all.

In whatever capacity Kate and Anthony appear, I’ll take it! But based on the actress’s comments, it sounds very likely that the Viscount and Viscountess will be around quite a lot in Bridgerton season 3.

What’s ahead for Kate and Anthony in Bridgerton season 3?

We may not have all the answers yet, but Ashley actually shared quite a bit of information with Deadline. As the outlet reports, Ashley told them the couple’s story is just getting started:

"I’d like to see Kate just let go a bit more and play more in Season 3 and kind of swim in that circle of love together. I think they both deserve it."

Um, yes. They certainly do! Overall I did enjoy Bridgerton season 2, but like many was left a bit disappointed with what I thought was the conclusion to Kate and Anthony’s story. We spent all eight episodes with this push and pull between the couple and it felt like we only got to see like five minutes of their happiness by the end.

Well those sneaky writers already had more plans in the works for Kate and Anthony, we just weren’t privy to that information yet. The fact that we’re going to see more Kate and Anthony is a big relief for shippers like me. Especially after we got to see a fulfilling arc to Daphne’s story. We just want to see the same for the head of the Bridgerton family.

The Viscountess actress also shared the audience is going to see more than just the love connection with her Viscount. Kate is now in charge of the whole Bridgerton household, a lot that is not easy to steer! But I’m sure she’ll have Lady Violet’s help. And if anyone can take charge of this family, it’s Kate. Ashley told Deadline:

"I’m excited to see her grow. I think I’d like to see Kate being much braver and less headstrong and more heart strong."

I definitely agree! I do also hope that we get an answer as to what happens with Edwina. Of course, I’d love to see the lovely Charithra Chandran reprise her role. She was so endearing! But even if the series can’t get her back on set, it would be great if we could get an update through dialogue.
