What to expect in the 100th episode of Young Sheldon tonight
Young Sheldon has reached a major milestone. The show will air its 100th episode tonight on CBS! This is a really big deal, especially for network television.
It’s become rare for a series to run so long, and there’s still more to come with the young prodigy’s story. Young Sheldon has already been renewed through season seven. It’s really not surprising that the show is doing so well. Though many more people were tuning in to The Big Bang Theory, the prequel series still has a high number of viewers.
Young Sheldon
has been on a
because of March Madness. But now it’s back, and it’s going to be with a bang! We haven’t had
from Leonard, Bernadette, or Raj yet. Could we be getting that in the 100th episode? Nothing’s been confirmed, but it certainly would be a wonderful surprise!
What to expect in Young Sheldon’s 100th episode
Season 5 episode 17 is titled “A Solo Peanut, a Social Butterfly and the Truth.” We know fan-favorite guest star, McKenna Grace will be back to reprise her role as Paige. Why is she popping back up? We’ll find out tonight.
Check out the episode’s synopsis below:
"Sheldon gets an odd request from an old friend, Paige. Also, George Sr. and Mary are caught in the middle of Meemaw and Dale’s breakup, and Georgie comes clean to Mandy."
There’s definitely going to be the aftermath of Connie and Dale’s breakup. Things may start to get complicated because of Dale’s relationship with the Coopers. He and Georgie have a close working relationship, he’s Missy’s baseball coach, and now George is working at his store. It’s already been rocky enough between George and Mary, this may be the couple’s breaking point. And it unfortunately would be fitting for a 100th episode.
Co-creator and showrunner Steve Moaro gave some hints at what’s to come in the milestone episode. He told Entertainment Tonight that big changes are coming that will take us through the rest of the season.
"Once you see it, it ends on a show-shifting moment [and] I’ll leave it at that."
This could be referring to 17-year-old Georgie and his 30-year-old girlfriend Mandy. He still hasn’t told her his real age. The two have been sexually active, so maybe it leads to an unplanned pregnancy. In The Big Bang Theory it wasn’t mentioned whether Georgie does or doesn’t have kids.
But the more likely “show-shifting moment” probably has to do with the elder George. There’s just been too much foreshadowing when it comes to his eventual cheating storyline. Maybe George takes that final step with Barbra. If we go off The Big Bang Theory’s timeline, George will only be alive for a couple more years, and Sheldon will catch him in bed with someone (which leads to his infamous three knocks) in about a year.
The prequel series has established a much more endearing father than how George was described in the original series. But unfortunately, we know his cheating and eventual death are coming.
Young Sheldon‘s 100th episode airs tonight. You can watch it on CBS at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
