Who plays Marc’s wife, Layla, in Moon Knight?

Moon Knight episode 2 is now streaming on Disney+ and we have plenty of questions, but in this post, we’re focusing on a new character introduced in Moon Knight episode 2, Layla El-Faouly. Who portrays the mysterious character? Let’s learn all our new favorite Marvel actress May Calamawy.

In the series premiere, we get to hear Layla’s voice, but we’re not exactly sure who she is, yet. Well, episode 2 tells audiences that this character is connected to one of Steven’s personalities, Marc. It’s revealed that Layla El-Faouly is Marc’s wife.

Who is May Calamawy in Moon Knight?

May Calamawy is a British-Egyptian actress new to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but she’s no stranger to the entertainment industry. Taking on the role of Layla in the Marvel series is her biggest undertaking, but not her first project.

Fans of the actress may have recognized Calamawy from Ramy, where she plays the main role of Dena Hassan. Calamawy has also appeared in episodes in Madam Secretary, Checking In, The Brave, and FBI. The actress also stars in Djinn and Together Together. 

About joining the world of Marvel, Calamawy tells Screen Rant that, “It’s so fun. I keep trying to just sit in the moment of it and enjoy it. I have so much respect for what’s been done, and to just even be part of it… I don’t think it’s hit me fully.”

But let’s get back to the fact that Marc has a wife, or perhaps, ex-wife, given the fact that they haven’t seen each other in a while? We have so many questions! One thing is for sure, we’ll be seeing a lot more of Layla in the coming episodes and we can’t wait to see what the character has to offer. Not to mention, what her part in this story will be.
