Is Maggie leaving FBI? (Here’s what we know so far)

Is Maggie leaving FBI? That’s the question on every fan’s mind after the promo for the latest episode found her character in grave danger.

In FBI season 4, episode 18, “Fear Nothing,” the team discovers that deadly sarin gas may have been sold to a group of terrorists which sends them on high alert as they work to track down the deadly gas before it can be used.

While Maggie and O.A. are successful in tracking down the gas, things go array when Maggie confronts the suspect. During their exchange, things take a grave turn when one of the canisters rolls off a table and breaks open, exposing her to the deadly toxin. When Maggie tries to escape, the lab door locks before she is able to make it out leading to an emotional exchange between her and O.A. in which she tearfully pleads for him to find a way to get her out.

Thankfully, O.A. gets to Maggie in time and saves her life, but it’s clear she has a long recovery ahead of her as the episode comes to a close leaving the fate of the character very much up in the air.

Is Missy Peregrym leaving FBI?

The emotional episode has led many to ask if we could soon see Maggie leaving FBI and whether the episode might have been Missy Peregrym’s last episode of the series. So is Missy Peregrym about to leave behind the role of Special Agent Maggie Bell?

If the episode felt like a final episode for Maggie there’s a good reason for this as the character is leaving the series, but only for a temporary basis. The storyline introduced in episode 18 was designed as a way to sideline Maggie for a few episodes to accommodate the real-life pregnancy of Peregrym, who announced she was expecting her second child in a sweet Instagram post on Feb. 6, 2022.

Ahead of the episode’s broadcast, Peregrym took to Instagram to confirm that the episode was her last episode of the season as she’ll be “off for maternity leave now.” While she’ll miss the remainder of season 4, Peregrym is expected to return as Maggie for season 5 — should CBS renew the series for another season which is highly likely.

FBI airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS, and episodes are available to stream on Paramount Plus the next day they air.
