On April 29, The CW shocked Arrowverse fans across the globe when it announced it would not be renewing Batwoman for a fourth season — despite fans’ outpouring of support for the series.

The new first broke via the show’s creator Caroline Dries, who took to Twitter to inform fans the news had come down that a fourth season would not be happening. The show’s cancellation was later confirmed by several prominent outlets, who confirmed The CW had opted to pass on a fourth season of the beloved series.

Following the show’s shocking cancellation, fans of the Javicia Leslie-led series have been quick to once again rally behind the show in hopes of helping to save the series. While The CW has passed on the show, eyes have quickly shifted to HBO Max — the show’s current streaming home — and whether the streaming service could step in to save Batwoman following the show’s cancellation at The CW.

Streaming services saving shows is nothing new, so could Batwoman find a second chance on HBO Max or has the ship truly sailed on the beloved Arrowverse drama?

Will HBO Max save Batwoman?

Sadly, there do not appear to be any plans for HBO Max to save Batwoman with the series not expected to be picked up by the streaming service.

Although we’ve learned to never say never in today’s day and age, having learned from the likes of Manifest how a cancellation doesn’t always mean the end, there appear to be no plans for Warner Bros. to shop the series around.

While Batwoman is available to stream on HBO Max, the service has yet to save a series and is not expected to swoop in to save the beloved CW drama. While disappointing, it’s not too surprising given HBO Max is already home to several DC Comics properties and will soon become home to a slew of Batman-universe set projects including Batgirl, The Batman spinoff series starring Colin Farrell’s Penguin and former EPIX drama Pennyworth.

It’s also worth noting that series creator Caroline Dries did not hint at any plans to explore finding a new home for the series when announcing its cancellation on Twitter.
