Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend release date, chefs, trailer and more

Netflix has cooked up a reboot for popular competition series, Iron Chef! We love our culinary competitions, and this one was definitely a favorite for many.

The original Iron Chef America was based on Fuji Television’s Iron Chef in Japan. The show was produced by the Food Network. In each episode a new challenger chef competes against one of the resident Iron Chefs in a cooking battle built around a specific ingredient or theme.

The show had a big following and it’s certainly exciting we’re getting a new version of it! Here’s everything we know about Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend.

Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend release date

The cooking competition series launches June 15 on Netflix. Deadline reports the season will comprise of eight 45-minute episodes. It’s not clear if all eight episodes will drop at once, but since it’s Netflix that’s more than likely.

The new title for the streaming service is also one of the ways Netflix is highlighting Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, according to Netflix’s

Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend synopsis

The culinary competition will have the Iron Chefs go head to head with Challenger Chefs in the reimagined Kitchen Stadium. Check out the Netflix synopsis below:

"This is where world-class cuisine meets high-octane sports. Five new trailblazing Iron Chefs will welcome brave Challenger Chefs to the reimagined Kitchen Stadium, where they’ll face off and be pushed to the limits of endurance and creativity, as they cook up extraordinary culinary creations. The competition’s most successful Challenger will return to battle in a grand finale for the chance to be named the first ever “Iron Legend.”"

Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend hosts, MC, and judges

Fans of the show will recognize host Alton Brown, who is making a comeback as co-leader of the food-filled episodes. He’s sharing the responsibility with Top Chef season 10 winner Kristen Kish. Mark Dacascos, “The Chairman” on Iron Chef America, also returns as the master of ceremonies.

Andrew Zimmern and Nilou Motamed will serve as series judges along with guest judges Francis Lam, Nancy Silverton, Justin Willman, Danny Trejo, Lorena Garcia, Loni Love, Wolfgang Puck, and Masaharu Morimoto.

Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend chefs

Five culinary pros will be taking on the challenges faced before them and enter the Kitchen Stadium. The Iron Chefs include Curtis Stone, Dominique Crenn, Marcus Samuelsson, Ming Tsai, and Gabriela Cámar.

Of course there will be the Challenger Chefs as well. Those are Mason Hereford, Curtis Duffy, Claudette Zepeda, Esther Choi, Gregory Gourdet, Mei Lin, and Yia Vang.

Curtis Stone

Stone is a LA-based Michelin-starred chef, restaurateur, author and culinary entrepreneur. In 2014, Curtis opened his first solo restaurant, Maude in Beverly Hills. He now has a total of three establishments. He’s appeared on other cooking shows like Top Chef Masters and Top Chef Junior.

Dominique Crenn

Crenn is the owner and chef of Atelier Crenn in San Francisco. In November 2018, she became the first female chef in the US to receive three Michelin Stars. Crenn has two restaurants and a wine bar that pays homage to the Parisian salons of the early twentieth century.

Marcus Samuelsson

Samuelsson has restaurants worldwide including Red Rooster Harlem, MARCUS Montreal, Marcus B&P in Newark, and more. Samuelsson was the youngest person to ever receive a three-star review from The New York Times. He is currently a judge on the Food Network show Chopped and  head judge of Top Chef: Family Style.

Ming Tsi

Tsi founded MingsBings, a consumer-packaged goods startup bringing healthy, plant-based, gluten-free convenient food to the frozen food aisle. The culinary expert has two restaurants, is the author of five cookbooks, and recently completed his 18th season as host of PBS series, Simply Ming.

Gabriela Cámara

Cámara has four restaurants in Mexico City: Contramar, Entremar, Itacate del Mar, and Caracol de Mar. She also has Cala in San Francisco in the works. The chef has been named to the 2020 TIME 100 list, the 2019 Bloomberg 50 list, and recognized as one of Fortune Magazine’s Most Innovative Women in Food & Drink.
