Is Riverdale cancelled? That’s the question on the minds of Riverdale fans after The CW cancelled more than half its programming slate.

Typically, The CW is the network which hands out the most renewals which is what has earned the network a lot of fanfare in recent years. Sure, there is always the occasional cancellation, but in general, the network has been gracious with handing out renewals or at the least giving shows final seasons to wrap their storylines.

However, this year has not been like other years. The network is expected to be sold to a new parent company and, as a result, the network has been much choosier about which shows are coming back. As a result, it’s been a bloodbath more gruesome than the one we witnessed in Multiverse of Madness with a whopping eight CW shows having been cancelled this season so far!

From veterans like Legends of Tomorrow to newcomers such as Naomi, no show has been safe lately which has led fans of Riverdale to question the fate of the show.

Although Riverdale‘s ratings have been down this season, the show has not been cancelled. Instead, The CW has renewed Riverdale for a seventh season making it one of the few shows to secure a renewal this season.

Is Riverdale season 7 happening?

Riverdale season 7 is officially happening at The CW. While the network cancelled a handful of shows this season, Riverdale was not one of them as the series will be coming back for another season.

It’s expected the new season will arrive sometime in the fall as part of The CW’s 2022-23 fall line-up, but it has not yet been revealed when season 7 will debut.
