ABC shows renewed in 2022: The Good Doctor, Big Sky, and more

TV watchers are in for a rude awakening as we move closer to Upfronts. It’s renewal and cancellation season for the networks. As such, they’re in the process of culling series they considered to be dead weight or not worth moving forward with despite the audience the show draws. That said, how many ABC shows received renewal orders?

With shows dropping left and right, fans are understandably concerned about their favorite series, especially freshman series. Over at the CW, the cancellation bloodbath included Naomi and 4400, two freshman series that were only just getting started. Fan favorites Batwoman and Dynasty, among others, were also cancelled.

ABC has not yet announced any cancellations, but did cut black-ish, Promised Land, and Queens from its lineup earlier this year. Perhaps the ABC network is starting the day with good news, though, as a handful of renewals were announced. Here are the series we know will return for another season.

ABC shows that were renewed earlier this week, are the following:

• Abbott Elementary
• The Goldbergs
• The Good Doctor
• Grey’s Anatomy
• The Rookie
• Station 19

The network renewing The Good Doctor, Station 19, and Grey’s Anatomy does not come as a surprise. The three are some of ABC’s best performing series. Newbie Abbott Elementary is also a big hit, the freshman sitcom is a new feel-good favorite. The most recently renewed shows we were worried about, are Big Sky and Home Economics. Luckily, both have received new season orders.

Big Sky season 3 is coming our way! ABC even announced that Supernatural alum, Jensen Ackles, has been promoted to series regular for season 3. Which ABC renewal announcement are you the most excited about? Were any of your favorite series cancelled by ABC or another network?
