From The Exorcist to A Nightmare on Elm Street, the Netflix hit series Stranger Things 4 took several notes from iconic horror movie franchises. One thing that sticks out the most, is how Vecna kills his victims.
Spoiler alert! Please consider this your one and only spoiler warning in case you have yet to watch Stranger Things season 4 part 1 on Netflix, now streaming. Go check out the seven episodes before reading ahead.
Our Hawkins crew has not seen the last of the Upside Down, and this time, they are without Eleven’s powers. Vecna kills Chrissy, Fred, and Patric, three characters we were just beginning to know. The villain also almost takes our beloved Max, but she is saved by the power of music! Finally, episode 7, titled “Chapter Seven: The Massacre at Hawkins Lab,” left audiences with a pretty big cliffhanger: Vecna enters Nancy’s mind.
How does Vecna kill his victims in Stranger Things 4?
We will have to wait until season 4 returns with the final two episodes on July 1. Until then, fans have been asking how, exactly, Vecna kills his victims and we’ve got answers!
Vecna’s victims fall under his spell, in which he enters their mind and forces them to confront their traumas. Whether the victims have done something they regret or are trying to escape the memory of something horrible that happened to them (Max witnessing Billy’s death, or Nancy being somewhat responsible for Barb’s death), victims are paralyzed in fear. With his mind, as the victims are under his control, Vecna lifts his victims from the ground and snaps their bones. It’s horrific to watch.
One can’t help but to think of Nightmare on Elm Street‘s Freddy Krueger. An iconic horror movie villain that also kills his victims under his spell while they sleep.
Don’t forget, Stranger Things season 4 part 2 premieres on July 1. Let’s set up a prayer circle for Nancy Wheeler until then!
