Is Jurassic World Dominion the last Jurassic movie?

Jurassic World Dominion has hit theaters! The film is the last in the Jurassic World trilogy, the successor to the Jurassic Park movies that wowed audiences back in the ’90s and early aughts. For nearly a decade, fans of the franchise explored the genius and chaos unleashed upon the world by John Hammond’s idea to bring an extinct species back into existence.

After Jurassic Park III‘s release in 2001, it seemed as if it was the end of an era. And, for fourteen years it was, until Jurassic World returned audiences to this universe in 2015. While we haven’t spent nearly a decade in the latest trilogy, it has been a part of the conversation in pop culture for some time. These two trilogies, connected in story, are huge at the box office.

As such, it has left folks wondering if Jurassic World Dominion is the last movie in this franchise. Are we not only saying goodbye to the Jurassic World trilogy but also the film era for this mega franchise as well? Here’s what we know!

Will there be more Jurassic movies after Jurassic World Dominion?

Jurassic World Dominion is the final film in the Jurassic franchise…for now. When speaking to /Film, producer Frank Marshall expressed an interested in continuing in this world. Back in 2020, Marshall said the following:

"“The dinosaurs are now on the mainland amongst us, and they will be for quite some time, I hope.”"

/Film reports that sentiment extended to leaving the door open to more movies. When Marshall was asked recently by the publication if that remains the case, he said, “Yeah, absolutely.”

This, however, doesn’t mean more movies are coming any time soon. Marshall clarified his point by stating:

"I think that ‘Dominion’s’ going to wrap up this trilogy, but we’re not resting on our laurels. We’re going to sit down, and we’re going to see what the future is. We have that wonderful series, ‘Camp Cretaceous,’ on Netflix. We obviously want to make quality, good movies with great storytelling, great writers and directors, but we’re definitely looking to do more in the ‘Jurassic’ world."

Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous is an animated series on Netflix that’s been running since 2020. It currently has four seasons with a fifth and final season landing on the streamer on Thursday, July 21. It’s unclear what direction more movies could take in this universe, but the potential for more films in this world hasn’t been ruled out.
