When does The Handmaid’s Tale return with new episodes?
Update: The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 will premiere on Hulu on Wednesday, Sept. 14 with a two-episode premiere. The remaining episodes will be released weekly, TVLine reports.
The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 finale aired in June 2021. The wait continues for new episodes. Do we even have a return date, yet? How long will we need to wait for the new episodes?
We would certainly love to jump back into the world that is the dystopian series The Handmaid’s Tale. The previous season ended with a lot of questions, especially when it comes to June’s need for revenge threatening all her relationships. Of course, June also wants to get her daughter Hanna out of Gilead. That was the only reason she even stuck around when she had other opportunities to get out.
It’s been almost a year since we saw how the fourth season came to an end. How long is this wait going to be? When will The Handmaid’s Tale return with new episodes?
When is The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 coming to Hulu?
We don’t yet have a return date for the dystopian series. Right now, the cast and crew are in production in Toronto and surrounding areas. It’s not clear just how long filming is going to go on for, and then after that, there is the post-production process.
However, Deadline reports that we’re expecting the season sometime this year. That would suggest a late-2022 premiere date then considering it can take six months for the post-production process, especially since at the start of filming, there were still some strict protocols on the number of people allowed on a set at once.
Early 2023 is more likely as a release date. We’ll be sure to keep an eye on what Hulu’s plans are for the series, as well as when filming comes to an end. This is a show that likes to keep a lot quiet when it comes to filming, which is even why it has a code name that is one of the worst kept secrets in TV!
