What is superhero film Samaritan on Prime Video about?

Sylvester Stallone is back in a new film and this time he’s a superhero! But this isn’t your typical heroic story. Samaritan will be released Friday, Aug. 26, 2022 on Prime Video.

Julius Avery serves as director and Bragi F. Schut wrote the script of the upcoming film. Joining Stallone are actors Javon Walton as Sam Cleary, Pilou Asbæk as Cyrus, Dascha Polanco as Isabelle, and Moisés Arias as Reza Smith.

What is Samaritan on Prime Video about?

According to Prime Video, 13-year-old Sam Cleary (Walton) suspects his mysterious and reclusive neighbor Mr. Smith (Stallone) is actually a hero hiding in plain sight. 25 years ago, Granite City’s super-powered vigilante, Samaritan, was believed to be lost after a fiery warehouse battle with his rival, Nemesis. Most people believe he died in the fire, but some like Sam have hope the hero is still alive. And the teen is right. Crime is on the rise and the city is on the brink of chaos, which pushes Sam to try and draw his neighbor out of hiding to save the city from ruin.

The trailer shows how this film will differ from other superhero movies. Which is really nice to give a unique take on a genre that’s been produced so many times. The biggest question we’ll want answered is – why did Samaritan disappear and go into hiding?
