Finally, So You Think You Can Dance season 17 has reached its end! This new era for the show has been more miss than hit for long time fans of the Fox dance competition series, however, there’s been no question that this year’s contestants are talented.

Last week, Alexis and Keaton claimed the Top 2 spots, ushering them into tonight’s finale to vie for the title and the $100,000 grand prize. Through a series of routines–a solo, a Top 2 dance, a performance with a fellow Top 12 dancer in their own style, and an All-Star pair-up–these two laid it all on the line.

Who won season 17? Here’s what we know!

Pairings

  • Alexis and Carter (season 17) – Latin ballroom
  • Keaton and Anna (season 17) – contemporary
  • Keaton and Lex (season 14 winner) – hip-hop
  • Alexis and Jason (season 5) – contemporary
  • Alexis and Keaton – jazz

The competition was stiff in the finale. Both Alexis and Keaton gave it their all from their paired routines to their solos. Love was in the air as Keaton revealed after his stunning contemporary routine with fellow season 17 contestant Anna that they’re dating much to the excitement of the judges and their cast mates.

Alexis dedicated her contemporary performance with season 5 All-Star Jason to her loving husband who’s been a supportive force in her life since they were fourteen. It was an emotional night for the dancer as she shared that her mother’s brain cancer had returned, so this entire season for her has been in honor of her and their beautiful relationship.

From routine to routine, performance to performance, Alexis and Keaton have been two of the top dancers in the entire competition and some of the strongest contestants this series has seen. But, of course, one had to come out on top and that was Alexis! Her win has cemented her as the first female ballroom dancer to claim the So You Think You Can Dance crown in the history of the show.

I, for one, couldn’t be happier about this turn of events. Alexis left her heart out on that stage from start to finish. Be sure to tune in next season for more of this wonderful competition that hopefully irons out many of the wrinkles that dragged season 17 down.
