Orphan: First Kill movie cast guide: Who is each actor playing in the movie?

She’s baaack! The release of Orphan: First Kill, the prequel to the 2009 horror film Orphan is set to release on Aug. 19 on Paramount+ and in select theaters. Who will star in the movie? We list the cast and the character they’ll be taking on, below!

For those who are unaware, the psychological horror film is expected to reveal how the lead antagonist, Esther, escaped from the Estonian psychiatric facility and made it to America under the guise of being a family’s missing daughter. Isabelle Fuhrman returns as Leena Klammer/Esther in Orphan: First Kill

Leena Klammer is the middle-aged woman who, due to a genetic condition, is able to appear as a young-girl. She goes under the name ‘Esther’ and is “reunited” with the rest of her family, the Albrights, who unknowingly think that they’ve found their long-lost daughter.

Fuhrman returns to her iconic role after appearing in the 2009 film Orphan for which she received critical acclaim for her portrayal of the lead character. Her recent projects in the thriller and horror genres include Novice, The Last Thing Mary Saw, and Escape Room: Tournament of Champions. She is set to appear in the upcoming Andy Tennant drama Unit 324 opposite Don Johnson.

Rossif Sutherland stars as Allen Albright in Orphan: First Kill

Allen is Esther’s “father” and Tricia Albright’s husband. Prior to this film, Sutherland, the French-Canadian actor, appeared in the Canadian slasher film The Retreat and the films Possessor as well as the comedy film The Middle Man. He has a supporting role in the French TV series Paris Paris. He is set to star in a lead role in the upcoming Canadian drama film Stellar. 

Julia Stiles stars as Tricia Albright in Orphan: First Kill

Tricia is the over-protective “mother” of Esther. Stiles might be best known for her roles in romantic comedy films but also has a track record in thrillers and dramas. You can see her in more recent films such as The God Committee and Hustlers and she can be heard as the voice of Olivia in the How to Train Your Dragon franchise TV series Dragons: The Nine Realms streaming on Hulu and Peacock. She currently plays one of the main roles of Maisy-May in the Canadian comedy series The Lake. 

Matthew Finlan stars as Gunnar Albright in Orphan: First Kill

Gunnar is the son of Tricia and Allen and the brother of his newly-found “sister,” Esther. Prior to his role in Orphan: First Kill, Finlan appeared in the films My Fake Boyfriend and the Netflix film Brazen. Finlan will appear in the upcoming Canadian comedy-horror series EZRA on OUTtv.

Hiro Kanagawa stars as Inspector Donnan in Orphan: First Kill

Inspector Donnan is the detective who has reappeared in the Albright family’s lives after handling their thought-to be previously missing daughter’s disappearance.

Orphan: First Kill does not mark Kanagawa’s first go at horror or thrillers as he was last seen in the 2021 film Every Breath You Take. He also appeared in the 2013 horror film Grave Halloween. His  roles in TV series include Pachinko, Star Trek Discovery, and Upload. He will appear in the upcoming FX mini-series Shogun.
