What is The English starring Emily Blunt on Prime Video about?

If you’re a fans of Westerns, then you’ll be happy to know a new “epic Chase Western” is coming our way this November on Prime Video! The English stars Emily Blunt and Chaske Spencer in the leading roles. The actress also takes on executive producer duties.

Joining them in the ensemble cast are Rafe Spall, Tom Hughes, Toby Jones, Ciarán Hinds, Stephen Rea, and Valerie Pachner. The upcoming show comes from a partnership between Amazon Studios and BBC.

The “mythical Western drama” is created, written, directed, and executive produced by Hugo Blick. Greg Brenman joins him behind the scenes as an executive producer, with Colin Wratten taking on a producing role.

What is The English on Prime Video about?

The limited series is about two people who come together in 1890 America to cross a violent landscape built on dreams and blood. The English tells a story about race, power, and love.

Those two people are aristocratic Englishwoman Lady Cornelia Locke (Blunt) and Pawnee ex-cavalry scout, Eli Whipp (Spencer). Both have a clear sense of their destiny, but they don’t know its rooted in a shared past. The two will face many terrifying obstacles, physically and psychologically. But as each one is overcome, it draws them closer to their destination – the new town of Hoxem, Wyoming.

It’s there where a series of bizarre unsolved murders and the full extent of their intertwined history will be understood. Eventually, they’ll have to come face-to-face with the future they must live.

All six episodes will premiere in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the Nordics on Prime Video in November, following the show’s U.K. premiere on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.
